Primary purpose of this paper is to analyze characteristics and meaning of mobile web novels in the digital age. The mobile web novel which is integrated content born out of a mobility-focused environment becomes the popular literature. It creates its own structure by remediating formal characteristics of genre novel, newspaper novel and play script. At the same time, it also produces its own aesthetic value with mobility and multimodality which are initiatives to bring together mobile technology. Mobile web novel systematizes story information focused on user-based context information and affordance. Thus, it can offer optimized story environment based on mobility. The mobile web novel has created unique literature forms in the mobile environment. One of the most representative forms is 'Bingyigeul' in Korean. ‘Bingyigeul’ remediates a pulp fiction and gives readers personas. It offers readers immersive reading experience by developing story focused on colloquial discourses. Mobile web novel has unique characteristics unlike existing print literature which has a distinct boundary between reader and writer. Moreover, it induces changing a passive reader into a creative writer by supporting authoring tools.
